Insurance Defense Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its Providence, Rhode Island office. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to work in diverse practice areas, including Construction Litigation, Insurance Defense (coverage and bad faith), Products Liability, Professional Liability, and Tort Claims. The role provides exposure to a variety of legal matters and the chance to develop courtroom and deposition experience under the mentorship of seasoned trial attorneys.

Location:

• Providence, Rhode Island

Duties:

• Handle insurance defense cases, including coverage and bad faith claims, in various practice areas such as construction litigation, tort claims, products liability, and professional liability.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and discovery responses.
• Assist in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Represent clients in court and at depositions, providing support in complex litigation matters.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and participate in client meetings and discussions.
• Maintain case files and ensure all deadlines are met while managing caseload effectively.

Requirements:

• Admission to the Rhode Island State Bar (or a sufficient UBE score to be admitted to the jurisdiction).
• 1–3 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
• Strong academic record and a demonstrated commitment to professional growth.
• Willingness to work closely with senior attorneys and gain trial and deposition experience.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Rhode Island State Bar or eligibility to be admitted based on a sufficient UBE score.
