Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of litigation experience

A law firm in Honolulu, HI, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of litigation experience and a strong background in trust and estate law, conservatorships/guardianships, estate planning, probate, conveyancing, business entities, landlord-tenant law, and garnishments. The candidate will play a crucial role in handling various legal matters, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, making court appearances, and providing legal advice to clients.

Job Duties:

• Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, contracts, and agreements.
• Handle the written and oral discovery process, including administering records, conducting oral depositions, and reviewing documents.
• File documents electronically on JEFS (Judiciary Electronic Filing System) and PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records).
• Perform comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis and other legal databases.
• Make court appearances, handle mediations, and participate in arbitrations.
• Conduct initial consultations with potential clients and provide legal advice and guidance.
• Assist senior attorneys with case management and trial preparation.
• Maintain organized case files and documentation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• License to practice law in the State of Hawaii.
• 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably with a focus on trust and estate law, conservatorships/guardianships, estate planning, probate, conveyancing, business entities, landlord-tenant disputes, and garnishments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and electronic filing systems.

Preferred Certifications:

Certification or specialization in trust and estate law or related fields is advantageous.

Skills:

• Proficiency in LexisNexis or similar legal research platforms.
