Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A well-established law firm based in Cleveland, OH, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will independently manage a caseload while working closely with senior attorneys, providing legal counsel, and handling various litigation matters. This role requires strong writing and analytical skills, as well as the ability to research legal issues, draft documents, and represent clients in court.

Duties:

  • Independently manage a full caseload with supervision from senior attorneys.
  • Draft, review, and file complaints, legal briefs, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in state trial and appellate courts, as well as municipal and federal courts.
  • Provide clients with legal guidance on strategy, case progression, and regulatory changes.
  • Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations; prepare legal memoranda and opinions.
  • Conduct discovery and participate in the preparation of legal arguments and case strategies.
  • Interview clients and witnesses, and manage legal documentation such as deeds, contracts, and judgments.
  • Adhere to legal standards, ethical practices, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including consumer protection statutes.
  • Monitor case files, ensuring deadlines are met and proper actions are taken.
  • Provide mentorship and review work for other department staff as needed.
  • Participate in required training and professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current, valid Ohio Bar license to practice law.
  • Proficient understanding of relevant legal codes, procedures, and government regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and courts.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.

Certifications:

  • Must hold a valid license to practice law in the state of Ohio.

Skills:
