A law firm is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Counsel for their Denver, CO office. The Projects (Regulatory) Counsel will focus on handling regulatory aspects related to the development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation of energy projects nationwide, with a specialized focus on renewable energy. This role entails managing power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid and transmission issues.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation
  • Draft and negotiate power purchase agreements and other offtake agreements
  • Advise on interconnection agreements and grid and transmission issues
  • Review and analyze project finance or project documents for energy transactions
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of legal experience in FERC electricity regulations
  • Exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions
  • Knowledge of renewable energy industry regulations is advantageous

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in Colorado or eligibility for admission

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Proficiency in legal research databases and Microsoft Office Suite

 

Experience:

4+ years of legal experience with respect to FERC electricity regulations, preferably with exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transaction.
