The firm is looking for an experienced attorney to offer expert guidance to public and private K-12 schools, community college districts, and related entities on various legal matters, particularly governance, labor, and employment law. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in advising public entities and a deep understanding of the educational sector's unique legal challenges.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel to school and district administrators on employee management matters, including discipline, termination, and retention.

  • Assist clients with navigating California Public Records Act requests, ensuring compliance with the Brown Act, and managing conflicts of interest.

  • Represent educational agencies in administrative hearings and other legal proceedings.

  • Advise on employee leave policies, disability accommodations, and related employment law issues.

  • Support Title IX and Uniform Complaint Officers with the proper handling and management of complaints, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies.

  • Lead and facilitate training for clients on critical legal topics related to education law.

  • Participate in conferences and marketing opportunities both internally and externally, contributing to the firm's reputation.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the State Bar of California and in good standing.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in labor and employment law, preferably within the educational or public sector.

  • Demonstrated ability in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy.

  • Experience with litigation and administrative hearings is a plus.

  • Ability to foster and maintain strong client relationships.

  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
