A law firm in Minneapolis is seeking a Patent Agent to support its IP Practice in the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios.

 

Job Overview:

The Patent Agent will focus on drafting chemical-related patent applications, prosecuting chemical-related patent applications, and supporting clients in matters related to intellectual property. Strong academic credentials, excellent writing and analytical skills, and the ability to work directly with clients are essential for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Support the IP Practice in the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios
  • Draft chemical-related patent applications
  • Prosecute chemical-related patent applications
  • Work directly with clients on intellectual property matters
  • Provide counsel on patent-related issues

 

Requirements:

  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in chemical engineering preferred
  • Degrees in materials science, chemistry, or strong relevant experience in any of these areas will also be considered
  • Strong understanding of chemistry and related principles
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Comfortable working directly with clients
  • Strong writing and analytical skills

 

Education:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or chemistry

 

Certifications:

Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of chemistry and related principles
