A law firm seeks a dedicated Attorney to join their team in Canandaigua, NY, with a focus on residential and commercial real estate law. This position offers a hybrid work environment and is primarily centered on providing legal representation in Matrimonial and Family Court matters.

Duties:

  • Meet with clients to manage individual caseloads, including conducting initial consultations.
  • Draft and file legal documents with various courts, with familiarity in NYS Courts Electronic Filing (NYSCEF) preferred.
  • Handle Family Court hearings and Matrimonial trials effectively.
  • Operate with a high degree of independence and autonomy in case management.
  • Oversee and guide support staff, ensuring they have clear direction and resources to accomplish their tasks.
  • Foster a collaborative team atmosphere, understanding that attorneys and staff support each other to achieve optimal client outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Minimum of one year of legal practice experience.
  • Preferred experience in Matrimonial and Family Law, including divorce, custody, visitation, child support, family offense proceedings, adoptions, and guardianships.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Familiarity with NYSCEF and court filing procedures.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft OneDrive, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with CLIO client management and billing software is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documents and convert them into PDFs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client and colleague interaction.
