A law firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intellectual Property Patent Agent with the following qualifications:

Job Overview: The Mechanical Engineering Intellectual Property Patent Agent will be involved in all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution. They will utilize their expertise in mechanical engineering to draft patent applications related to various fields, such as engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, control systems, consumer products, and medical devices.

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications for mechanical inventions by USPTO guidelines.
  • Conduct patent searches and analyze prior art to assess patentability.
  • Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to develop patent strategies.
  • Assist in responding to office actions and other correspondence from patent offices.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of inventions to support patent prosecution efforts.
  • Provide technical expertise in patent litigation cases as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience drafting mechanical patent applications.
  • Current status as a registered patent agent.
  • Strong collaborative and motivational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a client-focused, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience, specifically in patent drafting.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills.
  • Professional recommendations supporting expertise in patent prosecution.
