Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patent preparation and prosecution with a focus on software, AI, IoT, networking, and quantum technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, inventors, and internal teams to develop and protect intellectual property related to product design and user interfaces.
  • Draft high-quality patent applications, ensuring compliance with USPTO regulations and standards.
  • Analyze and respond to USPTO office actions, providing strategic recommendations for patent approval.
  • Conduct thorough patent searches and analyze prior art to assess the patentability of inventions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in client meetings and discussions to gather detailed technical information for patent filings.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior patent agents or attorneys on patent prosecution processes.
  • Stay current on new laws, legal decisions, and trends in intellectual property, particularly in software, AI, and quantum technologies.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • JD and admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) are required.
  • Proven experience in handling patents related to software, AI, IoT, networking, and/or quantum technologies.

Education and Certifications:

  • A degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field is required.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the USPTO is required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in patent preparation and prosecution for software-related technologies.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, and/or quantum technologies.
  • Proven ability to work on patent applications for product design and user interfaces.
