A law firm in Basking Ridge, NJ, is seeking a proactive Cyber and Data Privacy Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience in cyber incident response and/or litigation. This role involves fast-paced incident response work, crisis management, regulatory compliance, and managing data risk issues. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a keen interest and awareness in evolving technology, cyber risks, privacy, and data protection issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage fast-paced incident response efforts, including crisis management and mitigation strategies for cyber incidents.
  • Advise clients on pre-breach data compliance, risk assessments, and implementing effective data protection measures.
  • Represent clients in investigations initiated by regulators related to data breaches and privacy violations.
  • Handle litigation arising from data breaches, privacy issues, and related disputes, ensuring effective legal strategies and client representation.
  • Stay updated on emerging technology trends, cyber threats, and changes in data protection laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to develop proactive strategies for data protection, compliance, and risk management.

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of New Jersey or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in cyber incident response, data privacy, and/or litigation at a reputable law firm.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, privacy laws, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience advising clients on incident response protocols, data breach notification obligations, and regulatory investigations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, or equivalent).
  • Experience advising clients across various industries on data protection and compliance matters.
  • Familiarity with international data protection regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
