A law firm is seeking a Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney to join their New York City office. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in estate planning and estate administration, with some litigation experience preferred. The role requires a high level of self-motivation, strong interpersonal skills, excellent academic and professional credentials, and admission to practice in New York. An LLM in Tax is strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation in estate planning and estate administration matters.
  • Prepare and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents.
  • Manage and oversee the probate process, including the administration of estates.
  • Handle complex estate and trust matters, including asset distribution and tax issues.
  • Represent clients in estate-related litigation, including will contests and fiduciary disputes.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare detailed legal opinions and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement estate planning strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in trusts and estates.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and colleagues while ensuring high-quality legal service.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice in New York.
  • 3-5 years of experience in estate planning and estate administration.
  • Some litigation experience is preferred.
  • An LLM in Tax is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex estate matters and provide strategic legal advice.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • LLM in Tax (strongly preferred).

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York Bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of estate planning, estate administration, and trust law.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong academic and professional credentials.
