Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm is seeking a Partner level attorney with expertise in health and welfare employee benefits to join its Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation practice. Remote candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience advising businesses on the full range of health and welfare plans, including compliance with relevant laws and regulations, negotiating service provider agreements, and resolving issues related to the administration of these plans. Strong experience in providing proactive counsel on compliance and litigation matters is essential.

Location:

  • Cincinnati, OH

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on all aspects of health and welfare plans, including wrap plans, cafeteria plans, and flexible benefits arrangements
  • Counsel clients on compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), COBRA, HIPAA, Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, and other relevant regulations
  • Advise on TiC (Transparency in Coverage) and CAA 21 (Consolidated Appropriations Act) compliance
  • Draft and negotiate service provider agreements for health and welfare plans
  • Resolve legal issues related to the administration of health and welfare plans
  • Offer proactive counsel to employers on compliance and litigation issues affecting health and welfare employee benefit plans

Requirements:

  • Significant experience advising on health and welfare employee benefits matters
  • Strong understanding of ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other regulatory frameworks
  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating service provider agreements
  • Experience providing proactive legal advice on compliance and litigation issues
  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills
  • Ability to manage complex legal matters and provide strategic advice

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Expertise in health and welfare employee benefits regulations
  • Strong drafting, writing, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong communication and client relationship management skills
