Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney

A law firm in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in data privacy counseling. The role involves managing client interactions, developing compliance programs, and providing practical advice on state privacy laws and industry regulations.

Duties:

• Lead privacy and cybersecurity projects and interface directly with clients.
• Conduct compliance gap assessments and create comprehensive compliance programs.
• Draft privacy policies, procedures, and guidance including incident response plans and contracting templates.
• Advise clients on data sale/sharing, targeted advertising, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement playbooks and assist clients with risk assessment and compliance prioritization.
• Manage and complete significant matters or segments of large, complex matters independently.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of practical experience in data privacy and cybersecurity counseling.
• Specific experience with state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, WA MHMD) and industry-specific regulations (e.g., GLBA, HIPAA).
• Experience with adtech, online trackers, and related regulations (e.g., TCPA, CANSPAM, DAA/NAI/IAB rules) preferred.
• Experience in financial and health/life sciences sectors preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to practice in the jurisdiction (Texas).
• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP-US, CIPT, CIPM) preferred but not required.
