Job Title: Estate Planning Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A prestigious law firm located in Duxbury, MA is currently seeking an Estate Planning Associate Attorney to join its team. The role is focused on estate planning, probate/estate administration, and elder law. This opportunity provides a unique chance to work closely with clients, helping them achieve personal and financial objectives through strategic planning. Duties:

  • Draft and prepare estate planning documents, including Wills, Power of Attorney (POA), Health Care Proxy (HCP), and Revocable/Irrevocable Trusts
  • Conduct meetings with clients to provide legal counsel and ensure their needs are met
  • Advise and assist clients with moderate to high-net-worth estates on estate planning and tax-related matters
  • Perform legal and tax research to support client cases
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, ensuring their cases are handled efficiently and timely
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, paralegals, and staff to meet client expectations
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously, overseeing progress and following up on unresolved items
  • Regularly review open client files to ensure issues are resolved and cases progress toward completion
  • Record billable time and assist in the preparation of client invoices
  • Uphold a professional demeanor and build trust with clients

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of experience in estate planning, estate administration, and elder law
  • Strong preference for candidates with an LL.M. or those with experience or interest in tax matters
  • Knowledge of Wealth Counsel software is a plus
  • Familiarity with Medicaid applications and processes
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough research
  • Corporate law experience is considered an advantage

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • LL.M. in taxation is preferred, though not required

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Massachusetts State Bar is required

Skills:

  • Excellent research and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to clients
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple ongoing cases
  • Proficiency in legal software, including Wealth Counsel
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
