A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced General Practice Attorney to join its growing team in Elizabeth, NJ. This role involves providing legal representation across various areas, including family law, civil litigation, criminal defense, and immigration matters. The ideal candidate will collaborate with paralegals and manage day-to-day operations, ensuring effective communication and coordination within the firm.

Duties

  • Represent clients in family, civil, criminal, and immigration law cases.
  • Assist in drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs for various legal proceedings.
  • Prepare for trials, including organizing documentation and evidence.
  • Manage and coordinate the firm's calendar and scheduling.
  • Maintain clear and ongoing communication with clients regarding case developments.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of paralegals to support daily operations.
  • Navigate a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience in civil and criminal litigation.
  • Proven experience in drafting legal documents, including pleadings and motions.
  • Familiarity with trial preparation and courtroom procedures.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
  • Comfortable managing challenging client interactions.
  • Flexible to work an average of 40 hours per week, with some overtime and occasional travel to the Trenton, NJ office.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the New Jersey Bar is required.
