Job Overview:
A law firm specializing in civil rights and employment law is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its team. This position will involve handling cases related to police and prison abuses, racial harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation, employee discipline, whistleblower issues, and other employment-related matters. The associate will be responsible for all aspects of negotiations, discovery, hearings, and trials, working directly with clients and collaborating with a team of attorneys. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social justice and possess strong litigation skills.

Location:

  • Arlington, VA

Duties:

  • Handle employment and civil rights cases, including police and prison abuses, racial harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower issues.
  • Manage all phases of litigation, including negotiations, discovery, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Work directly with clients to gather information, provide updates, and advise on case strategy.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the firm, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Develop and implement creative strategies for litigation.

Requirements:

  • Motivated and able to work in a small firm environment.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
