Job Overview:
A law firm in San Diego is looking for an associate attorney to join its thriving Labor & Employment practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with 3-4 years of experience handling labor and employment litigation, including wage and hour class actions, PAGA claims, and single-plaintiff matters. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of employment-related cases, advising clients on daily workplace matters and defending them in both state and federal courts.

Duties:

• Handle labor and employment litigation, including wage and hour class actions, PAGA claims, and single-plaintiff employment disputes
• Provide day-to-day legal advice, including the drafting and review of employee handbooks
• Participate in discovery, motion practice, and court filings
• Take and defend depositions, and represent clients in settlement conferences and negotiations
• Assist with trial preparation and contribute to the litigation strategy in both state and federal courts
• Foster and maintain strong client relationships
• Contribute to business development and generate new client opportunities

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in labor and employment litigation
• Strong understanding of California wage and hour laws, PAGA claims, and employee relations matters
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, and deposition procedures
• Proven ability to draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
• Strong client-facing skills and a demonstrated capacity for business development

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership in the California State Bar, in good standing

Skills:

• Excellent legal writing and research abilities
• Strong oral advocacy skills and courtroom experience
• Proficiency in settlement negotiations and trial preparation
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
