Job Overview
A well-established law firm in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to handle high-value personal injury cases, including auto accidents, slip and falls, catastrophic injuries, and medical malpractice. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in personal injury litigation, including jury trials, and will be responsible for managing cases through all stages of litigation, from pre-trial to post-trial motions. Duties

  • Meet with clients to discuss case details and file lawsuits.
  • Propound and respond to written discovery requests.
  • Schedule and attend fact witness depositions.
  • Retain and manage expert witnesses, attending expert depositions as needed.
  • Schedule and attend hearings, including pre-trial motions and other court appearances.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations to secure favorable settlements.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including organizing evidence and developing case strategies.
  • Represent clients in trial, presenting evidence and arguments to secure favorable verdicts.
  • Prepare and file post-trial motions as required.
  • Attend file audits, litigation attorney meetings, and trial clinics for professional development.

Requirements

  • Active license to practice law in New Jersey, in good standing.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Personal Injury Litigator.
  • Proven track record of success in litigation, including at least 2 jury trials as first chair.
  • Ability to handle a large and active caseload from filing through verdict.
  • Experience in managing and providing direction to support staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Analytical and research skills.
  • Strong courtroom presence with a passion for trying cases.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the New Jersey State Bar, in good standing.

Skills

  • Expertise in personal injury litigation, including jury trials.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable settlements.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and large caseloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience guiding support staff.
