Job Overview

A prestigious law firm is seeking a Junior Tax Associate Attorney to join its Affordable Housing and Tax Credit Team. This role provides an opportunity to work with a dedicated legal team representing for-profit and nonprofit developers across the U.S. in matters related to affordable multifamily housing projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in partnership tax, federal income tax credits, and a strong foundation in accounting.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel on federal, state, and local tax matters related to affordable housing development.

  • Advise clients on tax implications for the acquisition, development, construction, rehabilitation, operation, and sale of affordable housing properties.

  • Conduct legal research and draft complex agreements, contracts, and tax-related documents.

  • Collaborate with developers, investors, and government agencies on tax credit financing strategies.

  • Assist in structuring tax credit transactions, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and other federal tax incentive programs.

  • Represent clients before regulatory agencies and provide guidance on tax compliance.

  • Stay up to date with tax laws and policies affecting affordable housing projects.

  • Work closely with senior attorneys to develop innovative legal solutions for clients.

Requirements

  • Active membership in the Pennsylvania Bar (or ability to obtain admission).

  • Strong knowledge of partnership tax and federal income tax credits.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong client service and team collaboration skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • LLM in Taxation (preferred).

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting (preferred).

Certifications

  • Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar in good standing.
