Associate Attorney - Real Estate

A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join its Real Estate and Tax Appeal practice in Sayreville, NJ. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with 1-2 years of experience who is passionate about real estate development, transactions, and tax appeals. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently while demonstrating strong research, writing, and communication abilities. New York bar admission is a plus.

Duties

• Meet with clients to review case details, and collaborate with managing members and associate attorneys.
• Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw, statutes, ordinances, and case law to identify relevant precedents and trends.
• Develop case strategies by applying legal principles to clients' situations and formulating potential courses of action.
• Draft legal contracts, documents, and memoranda, and communicate strategies to clients for approval.
• Gather and organize necessary documentation, conduct meetings, hearings, and conference calls, and engage experts when necessary.
• Supervise paralegals, ensuring efficient file management, scheduling, and document preparation.
• Represent clients in meetings and hearings, assist in organizing evidence and exhibits, and ensure witnesses are scheduled and prepared.
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients, ensuring they are informed of case progress.
• Continue professional development through education, reading, and active participation in legal organizations.

Requirements

• Admission to practice law in New Jersey is required; admission in New York is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in real estate, development, transactions, and tax appeals.
• Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality.
• Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in legal analysis and the ability to digest complex information.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in New Jersey; an additional license in New York is a plus.
