The ideal candidate will have a background in chemical engineering or chemistry, with at least 2 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting patent applications and conducting due diligence. This role requires strong analytical and writing skills, excellent organizational abilities, and effective communication skills. The Chemistry Patent Agent will work closely with clients, attorneys, and business professionals to manage and support intellectual property matters.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to chemical engineering and chemistry.
  • Conduct patentability analyses, freedom-to-operate assessments, and prior art searches.
  • Perform due diligence for patent applications, including reviewing and analyzing relevant documents.
  • Collaborate with inventors, legal professionals, and other stakeholders to develop and execute patent strategies.
  • Manage patent files, documentation, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, business professionals, and third parties, both verbally and in writing.
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and respond to correspondence in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and high-quality work product.
  • Successfully meet deadlines and perform work duties as required.
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activities, such as extended computer use and participation in digital/virtual meetings.
  • Perform additional duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting patent applications and conducting due diligence.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Registration with the USPTO.
  • Direct and applicable experience in a large or mid-sized law firm.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Research and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective management of tasks and projects.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.

Certifications:

  • Registration with the USPTO.
