Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a skilled and motivated attorney to join its team in Cedar Rapids, IA. Location:

Duties:

  • Prepare and draft legal documents for filing with appropriate entities.
  • Draft pleadings and motions, including judgments and orders.
  • Correspond with attorneys, court personnel, and clients regarding case details.
  • Interview witnesses for court cases and prepare them to testify.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all legal documents prepared.
  • Appear in court promptly for assigned cases.
  • Handle all aspects of cases assigned from start to finish.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, mailing, and organizing legal files and pleadings.
  • Conduct legal research on specific issues related to cases.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • IA state bar license required.
  • Family law experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Senior Associate positions available for attorneys with five or more years of litigation experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • IA State Bar membership required.

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal writing, document drafting, and pleadings.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact with clients and court personnel.
  • Ability to independently handle a caseload and attend court appearances regularly.
  • Trial experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
