A law firm seeks an experienced labor and employment associate to join its management-side team in San Diego. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in employment litigation, and a strong understanding of state and federal fair employment laws, wage-hour regulations, and other related employment laws. This role requires the ability to take on significant responsibility in managing cases, including preparing for trial, attending hearings, and drafting legal documents.

Duties:

  • Represent management-side clients in employment litigation matters before federal and state courts and agencies.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents in employment-related cases.
  • Provide counsel on employment law issues, including wage-hour laws, FMLA, and fair employment laws.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and other proceedings, advocating on behalf of clients.
  • Work independently to prepare cases for trial, manage discovery, and develop legal strategies.
  • Advise clients on compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to resolve employment disputes effectively.

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience in labor and employment law, particularly in employment litigation.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal employment laws, wage-hour regulations, and FMLA.
  • Experience preparing cases for trial, attending hearings, and managing discovery.
  • Ability to take responsibility for legal matters with minimal supervision.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California, in good standing.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and managing litigation processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
