Job Overview:

A reputable law firm is seeking a Junior Associate with 2-3 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law. The ideal candidate will have experience in privacy incident response, compliance counseling, risk management, and privacy litigation. Familiarity with federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric regulations, is required. This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule with regular in-office expectations. Preferred locations are Chicago and Dallas, though candidates from other office locations will also be considered.

Location:

  • Minneapolis, MN

Duties:

  • Advise clients on privacy laws, including incident response, compliance counseling, and risk management.
  • Provide support in privacy litigation, including research, drafting, and strategy development.
  • Stay up to date with privacy regulations and industry standards to advise clients accordingly.
  • Assist in reviewing and drafting privacy-related policies, contracts, and agreements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
  • Manage a high volume of cases with competing deadlines while maintaining quality work.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in privacy law, data protection, or cybersecurity.
  • Strong knowledge of privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state biometric and health privacy laws.
  • Experience in privacy incident response and risk management.
  • Admission to the State Bar in the jurisdiction where the associate will be practicing.
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US certification (or must obtain within one year of hire if not already certified).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills
