Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a junior associate to join its Food and Drug law team, which operates within the Chemical and Life Sciences (CLS) Practice Group. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 2-3 years of regulatory experience, ideally with a background in the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or experience related to its regulatory framework. Candidates with prior experience in the regulation of food-contact materials will be considered a plus. This role is based in Washington, DC, and offers excellent prospects for career growth and the chance to work in a dynamic and collaborative team focused on global regulatory compliance for food, drug, and medical device clients.

Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Assist clients with regulatory compliance related to food additives, food-contact materials, and food and drug packaging.
  • Conduct research and analysis on FDA regulations and international food and drug law.
  • Support compliance audits and deliver training seminars for clients on food, drug, and medical device regulations.
  • Counsel clients on FDA and related regulatory matters, helping them navigate complex legal frameworks.
  • Prepare legal documents, including regulatory submissions, and provide clear, persuasive written communication.
  • Take on immediate responsibility for managing client matters and work as part of a high-performing team.
  • Provide insight and recommendations on regulatory strategies for clients across the food and drug sectors.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of regulatory experience, preferably with the FDA or positions involving FDA regulatory frameworks.
  • Previous experience with food-contact materials regulation is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients and team members effectively.
  • A track record of conducting insightful research and delivering thorough analysis.
  • Ability to produce clear and persuasive written work.
  • Comfortable assuming immediate responsibility and working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the District of Columbia Bar, in good standing.

Skills:

  • Strong regulatory knowledge, particularly regarding FDA law, food additives, food-contact materials, and related regulations.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to work independently while being an integral part of a collaborative team.
  • Technical background (biology, chemistry, engineering) is preferred, but not required.
