Job Title: Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced attorney on behalf of a client in the food and retail distribution sector. This role supports the legal and regulatory needs of a nationally recognized supplier of Latin American products. The attorney will play a strategic role in advising leadership, managing contracts, ensuring regulatory adherence, and guiding risk management practices. This position is ideal for a legal professional with a solid foundation in corporate operations and regulatory law, looking to make an impact in a dynamic business environment.

Duties:

  • Serve as primary legal advisor to business leadership across corporate matters

  • Draft, analyze, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, vendors, and service providers

  • Provide guidance on employment-related matters including policies, disputes, and compliance

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws relevant to food safety, retail, and labor

  • Address risk exposure through proactive legal strategies and dispute resolution

  • Support and manage intellectual property needs including brand and trademark protection

  • Liaise with external law firms when specialized legal matters require additional support

  • Contribute to the development of legal frameworks to support organizational goals

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of post-bar legal experience, ideally in an in-house or industry-adjacent legal capacity

  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance, employment law, and commercial contracts

  • Proficient understanding of intellectual property and business law

  • Confident decision-making abilities and comfort in providing legal direction to executive teams

  • Strong writing, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Spanish language fluency is preferred

  • Must be licensed to practice law in California

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active California State Bar membership in good standing
