Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a dedicated Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) / Off-Take Agreement Attorney with expertise in Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Off-Take Agreements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for advising clients and negotiating complex agreements in the renewable energy sector.

Duties:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Off-Take Agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Provide legal counsel on regulatory compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution related to renewable energy projects.
  • Conduct due diligence and assess legal risks associated with renewable energy transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve client objectives effectively.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Washington, DC Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • Experience practicing law focusing on energy, environmental law, or project finance.
  • Proven track record in negotiating and structuring complex commercial agreements, preferably including PPAs or Off-Take Agreements.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy industry regulations and market dynamics.

Skills:

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments and jurisdictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with renewable energy developers, utilities, and financial institutions.
  • Prior in-house counsel experience or experience in a reputable law firm specializing in energy law.
