Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an Attorney to join their Detroit office, focusing on Senior Living and Litigation matters. Duties:

  • Assist in drafting legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and other court filings.
  • Engage in the discovery process, including issuing and responding to written discovery, administering depositions, and reviewing documents.
  • Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes between parties.
  • Perform legal research to support case preparation and strategy.
  • Appear in court as required, representing clients in litigation matters.
  • Conduct and summarize depositions and other witness statements.
  • Communicate complex legal concepts to clients and colleagues in an accessible manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle privileged information with integrity.
  • Manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Excellent persuasive writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • High level of integrity, with discretion in handling confidential and sensitive materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Familiarity with billing software for legal services.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar or the ability to take the Michigan Bar examination in the near future.

Skills:

  • Expertise in legal writing, including drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Familiarity with the discovery process, including depositions and written discovery.
  • Proficiency in conducting legal research and analysis.
  • Ability to negotiate settlements effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
