A law firm in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a skilled Real Estate Finance Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, extensive experience in real estate finance law within a large law firm, and exceptional writing and communication skills. Experience in managing complex commercial real estate transactions, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity, is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage real estate finance transactions from start to finish, including inception, closing, and post-closing activities.
  • Oversee loan origination for large structured commercial real estate finance transactions, with a focus on mezzanine loans and preferred equity.
  • Handle asset management and workout scenarios as necessary.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents related to real estate finance transactions.
  • Collaborate with clients, lenders, and other parties to ensure successful transaction execution.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and provide strategic advice on real estate finance matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and firm policies throughout the transaction process.
  • Support secondary market repurchase facility work and other exit strategies.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 3 years of broad real estate finance experience, ideally within a large law firm.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large structured commercial real estate finance transactions, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity.
  • Experience in asset management and workout scenarios is preferred.
  • Proven ability to handle transactions on behalf of lenders, including secondary market repurchase facility work and other exit strategies.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Missouri.
