A law firm seeks an Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney to join its team in Dallas. This role focuses on handling regulatory and litigation matters involving the energy sector, emphasizing legal proceedings, research, and compliance matters related to public utilities and state regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in litigation combined with a strong interest or background in the energy industry.

Duties

  • Handle various litigation tasks, including drafting legal filings, pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategy and regulatory filings.
  • Participate in hearings, representing clients in front of administrative bodies and state regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate closely with senior attorneys and partners on case strategy, client communications, and legal analysis.
  • Monitor changes in energy laws, regulations, and industry developments that may affect client interests.
  • Provide advisory support on compliance with Texas-specific regulatory requirements related to public utilities, energy infrastructure, and land acquisition processes.
  • Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations for clients to keep them informed on case progress and regulatory developments.

Requirements

  • 2 to 6 years of litigation experience, with exposure to regulatory proceedings preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with drafting legal documents, handling discovery processes, and participating in hearings or trials.
  • Interest in or prior experience working with electric utilities, the electric industry, or regulatory bodies such as the Public Utility Commission of Texas or the Railroad Commission of Texas.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Exceptional legal research and writing abilities.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas.

Certifications

  • Membership in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
