A law firm seeks a detail-oriented and driven Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to handle workplace injury cases and claims disputes. The ideal candidate will provide strategic counsel and representation to clients navigating California workers' compensation laws. This role requires familiarity with every stage of workers' compensation cases, from initial filings to appeals, and offers an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic legal team.

Duties

  • Represent clients in workers' compensation cases, including hearings, appeals, and depositions.
  • Provide expert advice to clients regarding their rights and legal options under California workers' compensation statutes.
  • Prepare legal documentation such as petitions, motions, and advocacy letters.
  • Conduct legal research and collaborate with medical experts, vocational specialists, and other professionals.
  • Manage all aspects of procedural tasks, including PQME Panels, AME/PQME exams, MPN searches, and coordinating medical appointments.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance companies.
  • Participate in hearings and conferences before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) and other administrative bodies.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, ensuring they are well-informed about case progress.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience handling workers' compensation cases.
  • Strong familiarity with California workers' compensation procedures, including PQME and AME processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for negotiation, advocacy, and client engagement.
  • Experience in preparing and handling case-related documents and legal research.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
