Job Title: Senior Defense Litigation Associate Attorney - General Liability

Job Overview: A well-established law firm located in Stamford, CT, is seeking a Senior Defense Litigation Associate to join their team. The role will involve supporting the Medical and Life Sciences team in defending general liability and premises liability matters, particularly for clients in sectors such as senior living, healthcare, and hospitality. Additionally, the attorney will assist in defending product liability cases involving FDA-regulated products in various courts including those in New York, New Jersey, and federal jurisdictions.

Duties:

  • Take and defend depositions
  • Research legal, medical, and scientific issues; collaborate with senior attorneys on strategic planning
  • Draft legal documents including memoranda, briefs, motions (e.g., motions for summary judgment), pleadings, and discovery
  • Prepare and review reports for clients, including deposition summaries, medical record analysis, case evaluations, and case assessments
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and assist with expert witness preparation
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of trial, mediation, and ADR processes
  • Represent clients in courtroom appearances, including oral arguments, motions, and discovery conferences
  • Maintain a minimum of 1,900 billable hours annually

Requirements:

  • 6-10 years of experience as the lead attorney in deposition and courtroom settings, with a focus on general liability, premises liability, or product liability matters
  • Active membership in the New York Bar (New Jersey Bar membership is a plus)
  • Proven experience in New York courts
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while also working independently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple deadlines effectively
  • Professional, positive, and cooperative attitude
  • Strong interpersonal and client relations skills
  • Military experience is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:
