Job Title: Real Estate Counsel

Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm based in Minneapolis, MN is seeking an experienced attorney to join its real estate team. This role is uniquely positioned for legal professionals passionate about property development in the renewable energy space. The position is a non-partnership track but offers substantial room for long-term professional growth, advanced skill-building, and increasing responsibilities. Duties:

  • Represent major clients in real estate matters related to utility-scale renewable energy projects

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex transactional documents such as purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, and title-related documents

  • Provide counsel on property development issues including site control, title insurance, and survey matters

  • Work with title companies and surveyors to resolve title defects, insurance endorsements, and survey discrepancies

  • Review title commitments, coordinate closings, and prepare curative documentation

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams across offices

  • Support business development initiatives and client relationship management

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in real estate law, particularly with the transactional focus

  • Familiarity with renewable energy development projects preferred

  • Prior experience negotiating real property acquisitions, leases, and related title documentation

  • Strong understanding of title insurance policy language and curative actions

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent legal writing and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and within collaborative teams

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic record preferred

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Eligibility for admission to practice in Minnesota, or willingness to obtain

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of real estate transactional work

  • Practical experience with renewable energy land use and permitting preferred

  • The high degree of professionalism and discretion

  • Client-first mindset and commitment to service excellence

  • Proficient in legal research, drafting, and title review software
