Associate Attorney School Law, Personal Injury, and Governmental Affairs

A law firm seeks a dedicated and motivated Associate Attorney to join its team in Farmingdale, NY. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 0-4 years of experience to develop expertise in school law, personal injury litigation, and governmental affairs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal research, excellent communication skills, and an eagerness to work on diverse legal matters, including representation in both state and federal courts.

Duties:

• Legal Research & Advice:
  • Provide legal counsel and advice to clients, primarily in the areas of school law, personal injury, and governmental affairs.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy and client objectives.
• Litigation Support:
  • Assist in preparing cases for trial in both state and federal courts, including personal injury and Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) cases.
  • Help draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Negotiation & Client Interaction:
  • Assist in negotiations with bargaining units and other parties in legal matters.
  • Build relationships with clients, offering regular updates on case developments and legal strategies.
• Case Management:
  • Support senior attorneys with active cases related to personal injury, the Child Victims Act, and other educational law cases.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and deadlines for all ongoing cases.

Requirements:

• Experience:
  • 0-4 years of experience in providing legal advice and representing clients in court.
  • Experience with personal injury cases or governmental law is highly desirable.
• Skills:
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
