Job Overview:
A law firm is currently seeking an experienced Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team in Oxford, MS. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated attorney with 1-5 years of litigation experience, particularly in insurance defense. Duties:

  • Assess new litigation cases, establish action plans, budgets, and recommendations.
  • Identify pleading requirements and delegate tasks to paralegals as necessary.
  • Prepare discovery responses and manage document production.
  • Attend depositions, hearings, and other discovery events, providing detailed reports.
  • Negotiate settlements, secure authority, and prepare for trial when required.
  • Maintain regular communication with paralegals and legal assistants.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in litigation, with a preference for prior insurance defense experience.
  • Licensed to practice law in Mississippi.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients, colleagues, and staff.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) or better.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in Mississippi.
