Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its expanding Intellectual Property Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in patent prosecution, including conducting patent searches and analysis, drafting and filing applications, and providing portfolio management services. Experience with mechanical, biomedical, and medical devices is a plus, and litigation experience is beneficial but not required.

Location:

  • Vienna, VA

Duties:

  • Manage patent prosecution for various industries and clients
  • Conduct patent searches and provide analysis to support IP strategies
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO
  • Assist with portfolio management and intellectual property counseling
  • Work closely with clients to assess and protect their intellectual property
  • Opportunity for involvement in IP litigation (optional)

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
  • Strong knowledge of patent law and prosecution procedures
  • Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices (preferred)
  • Litigation experience (a plus, but not required)
  • Strong client communication and relationship management skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field (preferred)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration (required)
