IP Practice Group Attorney

A law firm is seeking an IP Practice Group Attorney in Minneapolis.

Job Overview:

• Support the IP Practice working on the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios.
• Focused experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Opportunity to work directly with clients and contribute to the growth of the firm's IP practice.

Duties:

• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Prosecute patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Provide strategic counseling on patent portfolio development and management.
• Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Assist with patent litigation matters, including infringement analysis and defense.

Requirements:

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Degree or advanced degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
• Candidates with degrees in electrical engineering or relevant experience will also be considered.
• Strong experience drafting complex mechanical patent applications is a plus.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Comfortable working directly with clients.
• Strong writing and analytical skills.

Education & Certifications:

• Degree or advanced degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
