Mid To Senior Level Life Sciences Patent Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in New York City is seeking a Mid to Senior Level Life Sciences Patent Associate Attorney to provide technical expertise in patent practice, particularly in life sciences. The ideal candidate will work on patent application preparation and prosecution, freedom to operate and due diligence analysis, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Duties:

• Work on all aspects of patent practice with a focus on patent application preparation and prosecution, freedom to operate, and due diligence analysis.
• Provide technical expertise in life sciences patent practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues and in-house counsel on IP-related issues throughout the product lifecycle.
• Conduct freedom to operate and IP due diligence searches and analyses to support licensing, acquisitions, and research and development.
• Prepare and prosecute patent applications, contributing to the development of strong patent portfolios for pipeline products and platform technologies.
• Liaise with clients, the USPTO, and foreign associates to manage domestic and foreign patent application processes and strategies.
• Have opportunities for career advancement and receive training with increasing responsibilities.
• Collaborate with colleagues across practice groups and offices in a team-oriented environment.

Requirements:

• Must be a registered patent attorney.
• Possess an advanced degree and research experience in biological sciences (Ph.D. in areas such as molecular or cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, organic chemistry, or biochemistry).
• Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Hold 3-8 years of patent experience in life sciences.
• Have a superior academic record, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Previous law firm experience in patent work within the pharmaceutical and life sciences fields.
• Current registration with the USPTO in good standing.
