A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney with over 8 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in representing clients in New York and New Jersey on a range of family law matters. This role involves managing a busy caseload, preparing legal documents, and attending mediations, hearings, and trials. Candidates should be licensed in both New York and New Jersey and possess a small book of business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in a variety of family law matters, including separation, divorce, custody disputes, spousal and child support, and marital property issues.
  • Manage a high-volume family law caseload, ensuring all cases are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including discovery requests, motions, and briefs.
  • Attend and represent clients at mediations, hearings, and trials.
  • Maintain a strong attention to detail while meeting deadlines and managing multiple cases.
  • Preferably handle first-chair trials, demonstrating leadership and expertise in complex family law matters.
  • Manage an active caseload while contributing to the firm's overall family law practice.
  • Develop and maintain a small book of business, actively seeking to expand client base and firm presence.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in both New York and New Jersey.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing family law.
  • Proven track record of managing a busy caseload and handling diverse family law issues.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of cases while ensuring quality and thoroughness.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft and argue legal documents effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience handling first-chair trials is preferred.
  • Strong client management skills and ability to develop and maintain a book of business.
  • Proficient in legal research and analysis, with a strategic approach to case management.
