Job Overview

A dynamic and growing law firm is seeking an experienced Government Contracts Associate Attorney to join its Chambers-ranked Government Contracts group. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in government contracts law and a strong commitment to career growth and leadership. This position offers the opportunity to work across a range of industries and office locations.

Duties

  • Represent clients in bid protests and related litigation.
  • Provide counsel on cybersecurity compliance and federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS).
  • Draft and analyze requests for equitable adjustments (REAs), claims, and related litigation under the Contract Disputes Act (CDA).
  • Address federal subcontracting issues, including dispute resolution and flow-down compliance.
  • Advise on multiple award contracts and small business procurement matters.
  • Work independently on specific projects, as appropriate, and collaborate effectively within the team.
  • Engage with industries such as aerospace/defense, infrastructure/construction, life sciences/pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.
  • Develop thought leadership through written and oral presentations and contribute to client development initiatives.

Requirements

  • 4–5 years of experience in government contracts law (preferably in a law firm setting).
  • Proven expertise in bid protests, acquisition regulation compliance, and claims-related counseling and litigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to address subcontracting and small business procurement issues.
  • Intellectual curiosity and the capacity to work independently on appropriate matters.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar highly preferred.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and legal writing skills.
  • Exceptional verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle complex litigation and transactional matters.
  • Proficiency in navigating FAR and DFARS compliance issues.
