A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Associate Attorney to join its defense team in Chicago, IL. This role is ideal for someone with 2-5 years of experience in Nursing Home Defense, Medical Malpractice, and General Litigation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal matters, manage client relationships, and participate in all aspects of litigation, including discovery, settlement negotiations, and court appearances. The position requires office attendance in Downtown Chicago.

Duties:

  • Assist in drafting legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Participate in the discovery process, including answering and issuing written discovery, administering depositions, and examining documents.
  • Negotiate settlements and assist in case resolutions.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case development.
  • Make court appearances as necessary to represent clients.
  • Conduct and summarize depositions.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and colleagues, ensuring a high level of service and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, providing strategic legal advice.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Manage multiple cases and deadlines, prioritizing tasks effectively.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in Nursing Home Defense, Medical Malpractice, or General Litigation.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Strong persuasive writing skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Track record of maintaining and nurturing client and coworker relationships.
  • High level of integrity and the ability to handle confidential and privileged information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with billing software and case management tools.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:
