This position is ideal for a recent law graduate or an attorney early in their career who has a genuine passion for guiding clients through family-related legal matters. The role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to cases involving separation, custody disputes, support arrangements, and other personal legal challenges while working under the mentorship of seasoned professionals.

Duties:

  • Assist senior attorneys with case management and litigation involving family law matters

  • Participate in client consultations and help develop case strategies

  • Prepare and file motions, pleadings, and other legal documents

  • Attend court proceedings and mediations as needed

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on case-related issues

  • Maintain organized case files and accurate client records

  • Show compassion and professionalism in emotionally charged situations

  • Collaborate with legal support staff to ensure timely and thorough case progress

Requirements:

  • Admission to the South Carolina State Bar, or eligible to sit for the July 2024 Bar Exam

  • 0-2 years of experience in a law firm setting (experience in family law strongly preferred)

  • Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for family law practice

  • Ability to handle sensitive client interactions with empathy and tact

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Professional demeanor in high-pressure situations

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active or pending license to practice law in South Carolina
