Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Biotechnology Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join their team. Job Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical inventions.
  • Manage and draft patent applications, responses to office actions, and appeals.
  • Provide counsel on PTAB post-grant proceedings and infringement/non-infringement opinions.
  • Perform patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Collaborate with clients and inventors to strategize intellectual property protection.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in chemical or biotechnology patent prosecution, PTAB post-grant proceedings, and opinion drafting.
  • Admission to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional academic credentials from a reputable law school.
  • Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of patent law and regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with international patent prosecution.
  • Familiarity with licensing and due diligence in biotechnology.
  • Proficiency in patent search and analysis tools.

Education:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related field.

Certifications/Licenses:
