A law firm seeks a highly skilled Defense Litigation Associate to join its dynamic legal team in Atlanta, GA. This role offers the opportunity to engage in diverse and complex litigation matters, collaborating with experienced attorneys to handle cases from initial investigation through resolution, whether by mediation, arbitration, trial, or appeal. Duties

  • Analyze and summarize legal documents to develop case strategies.

  • Conduct in-depth legal research, including investigations into individuals, businesses, and worksites.

  • Evaluate cases and craft strategic defenses for litigation.

  • Meet with clients to discuss case details and recommend legal strategies.

  • Investigate case facts, plan, prepare, and conduct depositions.

  • Draft and argue motions before the court.

  • Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings.

  • Prepare witnesses and corporate representatives for testimony.

  • Draft legal briefs and appellate court filings.

  • Prepare and present defense mediation summaries.

Requirements

  • Active license to practice law in Georgia and in good standing.

  • 4-6 years of experience in defense litigation, with a strong preference for insurance defense, professional liability, or coverage litigation.

  • Exceptional critical thinking and legal research abilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple cases in a high-paced environment with strict deadlines.

  • Self-motivated professional who thrives in a challenging legal setting.

  • Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial records is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
