Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its New Orleans office, specializing in asbestos-disease cases. The ideal candidate will have 2-7 years of experience in asbestos litigation. This position involves managing cases from intake to trial, conducting depositions, researching and drafting legal documents, and interacting with clients. Location:

Duties:

  • Manage asbestos-disease cases from intake through trial
  • Conduct client and witness interviews to gather and evaluate case information
  • Depose fact and expert witnesses
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests
  • Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents
  • Communicate regularly with clients to keep them informed about case progress
  • Attend court hearings and trials as needed
  • Assist with preparation for plaintiffs' discovery
  • Review and analyze records, such as Social Security, medical, military, and union records
  • Delegate tasks to paralegals and legal assistants
  • Adapt approach to client needs based on their health status

Requirements:

  • 2-7 years of experience in asbestos litigation
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, and able to problem-solve
  • Compassionate approach to handling terminally ill clients
  • Ability to strategize and collaborate with a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage a high caseload and work under pressure

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Louisiana
  • Must pass pre-employment background check
