A law firm is seeking a Junior Environmental Associate Attorney to join its Houston office. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of environmental law experience, with a strong background in handling transactional, regulatory, enforcement, and remediation matters. The attorney will provide legal support for clients, working independently with appropriate supervision, and will be involved in negotiating, drafting, and implementing agreements, as well as resolving pre-litigation claims. Stellar academic credentials, superior writing and research skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset are required. Texas Bar admission is also required or the ability to obtain/waive-in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to clients on a variety of environmental matters, including transactional, commercial, regulatory, enforcement, and remediation.
  • Negotiate, draft, and implement agreements related to environmental issues.
  • Handle pre-litigation claims, including negotiation and resolution of environmental disputes.
  • Work independently while collaborating with senior attorneys and supervisors to manage client matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and other legal documents related to environmental cases.
  • Stay current on environmental regulations and laws, advising clients on compliance and best practices.
  • Assist in regulatory and administrative proceedings and enforcement actions before federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Engage in client counseling, risk management, and strategy development in the environmental law space.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic performance.
  • Bar Admission:
    • Must be admitted to the Texas Bar or eligible to obtain/waive-in.
  • Experience:
    • 2-4 years of experience in environmental law, with hands-on experience in regulatory, transactional, or litigation matters.
  • Key Areas of Experience:
    • Handling a variety of environmental legal matters, including regulatory enforcement, remediation, and transactional support.
    • Experience negotiating and drafting agreements and managing pre-litigation claims.

  • Strong knowledge of environmental law and regulations, both federal and state.
