Senior Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:
A premier law firm in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in immigration law, strong client management skills, and the ability to lead and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Location:

• Houston, TX

Duties:

• Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), including both detained and non-detained individuals
• Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely progress and resolution
• Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
• Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
• Review immigration applications and ensure all necessary adjustments are made
• Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law
• Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients to determine the best course of action
• Develop case strategies, preparing clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
• Provide legal analysis and guidance to clients, identifying potential benefits for their cases
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases
• Stay updated on immigration law changes and trends, and advise clients accordingly

Requirements:

• At least 4 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS applications
• Strong case management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a high caseload
• Experience in representing clients in Immigration Court, BIA, and USCIS matters
• Ability to work independently while being an effective team player
• Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish)
• High level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively
• Proven ability to move legal cases forward and achieve successful outcomes for clients
• Experience with case management software is preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice law in the state of Texas (other state bars are a plus)
