A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Litigation Attorney to join its team remotely and support the South Carolina office. This position is focused on representing clients in the western part of the state. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil litigation, a strong understanding of courtroom procedures, and excellent negotiation skills. This is a great opportunity for an attorney looking for a flexible role with no billable hour requirements and the potential for commission-based compensation.

Duties:

  • Negotiate the resolution of pending litigation cases, including settlements.
  • Handle motion practice, including drafting and reviewing pleadings and discovery.
  • Appear in court and manage litigation proceedings.
  • Execute legal documents and manage calendar deadlines for a high-volume practice.
  • Communicate and interact professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients and staff as needed.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in South Carolina.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a high caseload.
  • Comfort with technology, especially Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to professionally interact with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Preferred but not required: Experience in collections or debt recovery litigation.
  • Willingness to work remotely and manage cases with minimal supervision.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • SC Bar License required.

Skills:

  • Strong background in civil litigation, including motion practice and discovery.
  • Ability to negotiate settlements and navigate high-volume litigation.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to draft legal documents and correspondence.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think critically under pressure.
  • Comfort with legal technology and case management software.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while meeting deadlines.
