Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced and highly qualified associate attorney with a minimum of two years of privacy experience to join their Corporate Privacy & Cyber (Transactional) practice. This role involves advising leading clients on complex data privacy and security issues, with a focus on high-profile compliance and transactional matters, including M&A deals and IPOs. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactions in the privacy and security space. Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on compliance with privacy laws and regulations
  • Negotiate privacy and security provisions in commercial services agreements
  • Manage privacy and security components of corporate transactions (e.g., M&A, IPOs)
  • Draft and negotiate privacy-related clauses in corporate contracts
  • Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient completion
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex data privacy and security issues
  • Proactively drive matters forward with minimal supervision

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in privacy law, with a focus on corporate transactional work
  • Experience with commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and data privacy/security issues
  • Proven ability to manage privacy and security aspects of corporate transactions (including M&A and IPOs)
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities independently
  • Strong understanding of privacy laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of technology and online technologies (preferred)

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • CIPP certification (preferred but not required)

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Expertise in privacy law and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects independently
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for technology and a solid understanding of how online technologies work (preferred)
