Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced and highly qualified associate attorney with a minimum of two years of privacy experience to join their Corporate Privacy & Cyber (Transactional) practice. This role involves advising leading clients on complex data privacy and security issues, with a focus on high-profile compliance and transactional matters, including M&A deals and IPOs. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactions in the privacy and security space. The position offers the opportunity to work with top-tier clients and gain valuable experience in a dynamic, fast-paced legal environment.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on compliance with privacy laws and regulations
  • Negotiate privacy and security provisions in commercial services agreements
  • Manage privacy and security components of corporate transactions (e.g., M&A, IPOs)
  • Draft and negotiate privacy-related clauses in corporate contracts
  • Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient completion
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex data privacy and security issues
  • Proactively drive matters forward with minimal supervision

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in privacy law, with a focus on corporate transactional work
  • Experience with commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and data privacy/security issues
  • Proven ability to manage privacy and security aspects of corporate transactions (including M&A and IPOs)
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities independently
  • Strong understanding of privacy laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of technology and online technologies (preferred)

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • CIPP certification (preferred but not required)

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Expertise in privacy law and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects independently
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for technology and a solid understanding of how online technologies work (preferred)
