Junior Associate Attorney - Estate Planning and Elder Law

A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Associate Attorney to join its Estate Planning & Elder Law team in the Hudson Valley. This entry-level position is ideal for recent law school graduates or attorneys with up to 3 years of experience. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with clients on a variety of estate planning, elder law, and Medicaid-related cases. It also involves drafting legal documents, managing client maintenance programs, and assisting with estate and trust administration. The firm provides comprehensive training and significant exposure to client interaction.

Duties

• Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
• Assist in managing the firm’s client maintenance program.
• Work on crisis Medicaid cases, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
• Support clients through estate and trust administration processes.
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information and provide legal updates.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop strategies for complex legal issues.
• Maintain accurate records and case documentation.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities, both in-house and through external organizations.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• 0-3 years of experience in estate planning, elder law, or related areas (preferred, but not required).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to providing exceptional client service.
• Demonstrated interest in estate planning and elder law through coursework, clinical experience, or prior work experience (preferred).

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• New York State Bar License (or eligibility to sit for the New York Bar Exam).
